Garmin echoMap CHIRP 43cv Review

Overall Rating
4.5/5

The Garmin echoMap CHIRP 43cv is the latest in a long line of Garmin aquatic navigational aids intended to be ideal for small and even unpowered craft. Due to its small size and 5V power intake, it can easily be installed even on small fishing boats or canoes and kayaks, although in such unpowered craft an external source of power will still be required.

Overall Rating
1.5/5

The Lowrance Hook 9 is an advanced fish finder intended for use by serious fishermen who want to increase the likelihood and size of a catch, as well as reduce the probability of fruitless casting or catching fish too small to be kept. It is a dedicated fishfinder that is lacking in some of the navigational aids found on other units, but because it is dedicated and focused on providing information regarding the presence of fish, it is superior to many general or mixed-purpose units.

Lowrance Elite 9 Ti Review

Overall Rating

When it comes to fish finders, you generally run across a feast or famine situation. Either the product is much cheaper than you would have expected—and its questionable quality shows why—or it is fairly expensive but generally works as advertised. There are a select few instances when fish finders actually work better than advertised, and they are usually at the highest end of the price spectrum.

Humminbird Helix 5 CHIRP G2 Review

Overall Rating
4.8/5

For 2017, Humminbird has once again stepped up the technology by creating the Helix 5 CHIRP G2 fish finder. Unlike the 1st Generation series, Gen 2 features the addition of CHIRP sonar, which enables anglers to scan depths using low, middle or high frequencies individually or simultaneously. The advanced sonar provides better target separation, reduced image noise and displays in higher-resolution along with the ability to reach depths of up to 1000 feet.
